Safety Tips When Checking Dangerous Parts Of Baby Toys

Aside from baby gift baskets, newborn clothing, baby blankets and baby bottles, toys are what parents usually receives as baby shower gifts. Toys are great, they entertain babies as well as help the baby's development. With so many baby toys that are being introduced today, unfortunately, not all of them were made equally and safe for little infants. Therefore, it is still up to the parents on how to determine what safe or not safe baby items for their babies. Here are a few simple safety tips when checking dangerous parts of baby toys.

  • Avoid toys with sharp edges. You can actually see and feel sharp edges on an item, easily. Mini trucks and cars are some of the most innocent toys on the shelf, but better to save them for bigger kids and not for toddlers.

  • Toys with extra little accessories like cords or parts that can easily be removed can be very dangerous for little ones – these are choking hazards!

  • Battery-operated toys are usually fun and enjoyable to play with, however, make sure that batteries are securely stored away from the child. Cheaper toys and toys for bigger kids usually have battery compartment that is too accessible to children. Now for your baby, make sure that battery compartment is safely positioned and fastened with a screw. Otherwise, batteries will be easily fall out and go into your child's mouth.

  • Always check the safety standards of baby toys, as well as read each toy's details. Although toys come in a good quality, check everything out carefully for yourself. A mom should know what's best for her baby and for her entire family.
